FANS TO VOTE FOR THEIR PEPSI MAX MLB FIELD OF DREAMS AMERICAN LEAGUE AND NATIONAL LEAGUE ROSTERS FOR THE CHANCE TO PLAY A GAME WITH MLB LEGENDS
The one-of-a-kind consumer program will enter its second year; AL and NL rosters to be revealed at 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game
Purchase, NY, April 24, 2012 – With the 2012 MLB season in full swing, Pepsi MAX, the official soft drink of Major League Baseball, is giving fans the opportunity of a lifetime – the chance to take the field with MLB Legends in the Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams program. Starting today through June 15, 2012, baseball fans across the country can go to MLB.com/PepsiMAX to cast votes for players on the American League (AL) and National League (NL) Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams ballots and be entered for the chance to play with their favorite MLB legends in an AL vs. NL match-up.
Following the success of last year’s program, which will award Columbus, OH resident Tim Wisecup the chance to play against MLB legends such as Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson and Frank Thomas in his hometown on May 12 in front of family, friends and the community, Pepsi MAX has re-launched the program for the 2012 season and will choose two consumer winners – one to represent the AL and one to represent the NL.
“We know Pepsi MAX fans are passionate about sports, and for the second straight year we are excited to offer a program that provides a once-in-a-life time experience for our avid and casual fans alike,” said Mark Rooks, senior director for Pepsi sports marketing. “With such a positive response to last year’s program, it will be thrilling for Pepsi Max to make Tim Wisecup’s dream come to life on May 12 in Columbus, OH – and it will definitely get fans excited for their own chance to win this year’s promotion.”
To bring to life the friendly rivalry between the AL and NL, the two consumer winners will campaign for votes to see who will have home field advantage for the Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams game.
The AL and NL ballots are comprised of 57 MLB greats, including Cal Ripken, Jr., Dave Winfield, Rollie Fingers, Ozzie Smith and Randy Johnson, among others at each position (catcher, first base, second base, third base, shortstop, outfield, starting pitcher, relief pitcher and designated hitter).
“With so many legendary players on the ballots, I am excited to see how fans vote,” said Tony Gwynn, baseball Hall of Famer and PepsiMAXMLB Field of Dreams Team hopeful. “It is an honor to be on the ballot and it would truly be a memorable opportunity to be selected as part of the Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams team and play alongside fans of the game.”
Consumers can vote up to 25 times per day at MLB.com/PepsiMAX and each NL or AL ballot cast counts as an entry to be selected as one of the two consumer winners. Voting for the designated hitter is available exclusively at 7-Eleven stores nationwide; and for each vote, consumers are entered for a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to a 2012 World Series Game.
The fan-selected Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams AL and NL teams will be revealed at MLB All-Star FanFest in Kansas City, MO on July 10, and the two consumer winners will begin campaigning for their chance to host the Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams Game in their hometown.
